New owner, XJS V12. Hello.

PS - my feeling is this is probably an aftermarket addition. I had a V12 coupe that had a similar tilt/slide glass unroof added by a dealer. Brakebuster's we think is original.

From replacing the headliner stance I kind o wish the car didn't have the sunroof would make the replacement liner much much easier (read that a also cheaper)

Welcome and congratulations on the start of a great project! A couple of additional thoughts, to add to what has gone before (all of which I agree with!):

- high idle - check the condition of your throttle bodies and throttle linkages. Are these clean and moving freely? Lots of small moving joints, just waiting to get gummed up and stick, thus preventing the throttles from closing properly.
- sunroof headlining - give Dan at Aldridge Trimming a call. They are based in Wolverhampton and did an excellent job on my headlining. They have the skills and knowledge to tackle something a little more bespoke, like a sunroof version.

Ordered jaguar tudor white aerosol the other day to touch up a few bits but its miles out so removed the filler car cover and will ask them to match it based on that.

The header expansion tank is next hopefully pick one up on Saturday, then can have it running safely and look at the high idle/hunting around issue. Thanks for the pointers.

Found a local company with jaguar headliner material so if get chance will remove mine and see if suitable for a template to be made from it.

i'll wear a mask for this as I know going to be messy removing a 35 year old headliner.

I'll do a separate thread soon as bits get done in the general section so i stop littering the New Arrivals sub forum.

Used my discount card as well for 10% off some bits so coming in great use already.

PS my car actually already had a sticker on the rear but i guess an older one as quite big and different from the one i just received.

Good to hear you're making progress!

A few thoughts:

- You might try really deep cleansing your paintwork before condemning the spray can. A good cutting of the surface can radically cahnge the visual appearance of the colour. Also, where did you source the paint? Did you order it against the actual paint code of Jaguar NDC. And maybe just check that this the paint code on your VIN plate.

- The problem with the headliner is the way in which the foam delaminates from the backing board. Don't try and remove the cloth element only inside the car! It will create the most awful mess! You need to remove the whole headliner and then remove the cloth if that's what you want. Even that can be messy!

A weird co-incidence that took me a few weeks to even notice was I have two cars that have the same rear buttresses style the XJS is known for because I've also a new Mazda MX5 RF with the Targa metal folding roof which also has the rear buttress design. Apart from that the cars are very different of course.
