RHS loudspeakers are not working

My 2008 X-Type 3.0 Sovereign Estate has the Alpine Premium Sound System. Noticed that the front and rear RHS loudspeakers are not working. Adjusting fade and balance only affects LHS. Maybe a problem with the Power Amplifier, question is where is this located? Thanks

It will be in the boot, lefthand side, above the cd and nav unit.

When I first got my current X type, three of the main door speakers were not working. When I checked the outputs from the amplifier, all was well, so I moved on to the speakers themselves, all three of which tested open circuit. However, further investigation showed that they were OK when tested across the flying leads rather than the terminals. Re-soldering was no help so I added a pair of jumpers from the leads to the terminals and all three speakers are now back in service :) Photo attached.
The only snag with getting at the speakers is that it seems impossible to remove the door cards without breaking at least some of the clips, so getting a few in before starting is useful. Easily available on Ebay

Now there is no audio at all. The dash head unit is still functioning ok, so suspect the Alpine power amplifier in the back of the estate. Will try and strip it down and test the amplifier.

Hello,

I had a similar problem on my X-type 2008 model also with the Alpine premium sound system. On mine none of the rear door speakers were working, but the front ones and the subwoofer worked OK. So I purchased a second hand amplifier for £50, installed it and everything was fine. I opened up the old amplifier and I could see that some of the components had been burnt and there were also a lot of soldering joint that didn't look the best.

Good luck.

Andreas
