Good morning,
I have just had to replace the batteries in my two key fobs (the spare having been flat for a while) and now they have lost the programming to unlock the car, deactivate alarm etc. I have been through what I think is the correct procedure - the one where you flash the lights four times - to no avail. (The car does not beep after the 4th flash which I understand should indicate that it is in programming mode).
When I bought the car 3 years ago it only came with one fob, so I purchased one from eBay and a specialist Jag mechanic set them up for me; they have been fine until now.
Please could you advise if there is anything else I could try. The replacement batteries were bought on line. Is it possible they are all faulty/flat?
Thanks very much,
Tim.

Re: Programming Key Fobs
I`ve changed fob batteries without issue. A simple change and that`s been it. No reprogramming required.
It could well be that your new batteries are defective. Perhaps try batteries from an alternative source. Do check they are the correct voltage.

Thanks Mike, they are CR2032 which I understood to be correct. I think though I may go to a car spares shop and get some more just to be sure.
cheers,
Tim.

They are a common size and you should be able to get them from a supermarket. I can get them from my local Morrisons.
Might be more convenient and cheaper.

Re: Programming Key Fobs
Hi Tim, hope you've had some luck with your fob programming.
I'm on a similar mission, my fobs didn't work when I recently purchased the car. I wasn't getting the beep on the 4th flash either. I removed the door panel and removed the door control module, unplugged the connections and flooded the male and female halves of the plugs with electrical cleaner. Allowed to dry, encouraged with compressed air, and reassembled. I now get the beep, nothing when I press the buttons on either fob. turn the ignition key back to "off" and I get 1 beep followed by 2 beeps. Fob still doesn't operate. I did note that the door had to be open for the procedure to work, and only cracked open was insufficient. opened by a foot or so was fine.
A visit to Timpsons confirmed that the fobs were emitting a signal. Scanning provided codes of b1676, b1529 and b1895, codes cleared, no difference in results of attempted programming. Live data scan did reveal that all was as expected other than "drivers lock status " registered as No when both locked and unlocked. It did flick to yes instantaneously whilst locking and unlocking was in progress. "drivers door module Security output" was constant at inactive.
Looks like the door panel off, lining off, hopefully I'll find a microswitch that can be dealt with without replacing the lock.
Can anybody confirm if I'm on the right track?

Re: Programming Key Fobs
Hi all, just an update on my issue. Having read up on other threads regarding the difficulties in dealing with individual micro switches I bit the bullet and ordered a replacement door module.
Fitted the module, both keys recognised and functioning other than not unlocking on remote. Will now get the module programmed in by my independent.

Hi,
Further to this, can anyone confirm that this programming of the DDM to the car can be done with a Mongoose cable and SDD?
I have replaced the DDM on my car and can lock but not unlock. I am thinking of purchasing a laptop with SDD preinstalled and Mongoose cable but don't want to spend £500 if I can't programme the DDM.
If you can - is it a safe simple process?
Cheers
