A Highly Belated Greeting from a not so new owner..

Postby sshaunus308 » Sat Jan 02, 2021 4:55 pm

Hi

I've only just managed to get around to an introduction after officially joining the club in the midst of our summer lockdown. Saying that, I've been the happy owner of a 2007 Jaguar X-Type 2.2 Sovereign since 2015. I bought it with around 74,000mls on the clock and with the same clock now reading nearly 128,000, I can honestly say I'm still happy. No major issues, only wear n tear type of stuff but generally trouble free. Poised, predictive handling, comfortable and more than adequate levels of torque. On the M roads is where the diesel really comes into its own, especially when its possible to see between 6 and 700 miles on a tank. Has anyone seen more??

I was trying to sell it the other day as I managed to justify buying a 2002 XJ8 but didn't have much luck so have, in turn, managed to justify keeping it along WITH the XJ8. I think that its a good decision and my justification is fully legit. Thats my story and thats what I'm sticking to.

Anyway, hi again and am looking for future correspondence and queries

Shaun

Hi Shaun,
You make some excellent points in favour of the X-Type. Why not drop our editor a line about your experience of the car's 50k miles? As for running another Jaguar, you can never have too many Jaguars! It's a disease for which the NHS has yet to develop a vaccination. :) Mike.

.....Ah, I wouldn’t want to put the NHS under anymore pressure by adding the extra cost of a cure for a totally acceptable ailment... lol

Dropping the Editor a line. That’s an idea...🤔🤔 Now might one do that??

Hi Shaun,
Its great to hear the X-Type wouldn't let you go and that it still owns you!
It would make a great read in the mag - how the two cars complement each other and the justification for the two cars. I'm constantly justifying my reason for four and its only money that stops me having more!
Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Dave

So sorry. I’m only just seeing this. Moved house etc etc so haven’t really been on the forum that much. Is a write up still on the table? I’ve since gotten rid of the xtype which I was sorry for but the xj is doing very well along with the various upkeep repairs along the way. Let me know

Hi Shaun,
If you feel like writing in with matters or experiences that may interest X-type owners they are always welcome. However, now that you have sold the car you may prefer to concentrate your efforts on the XJ which I quite understand.
All the best
