Battery charging/maintenance/conditioner

Hello all,

This is my first post, so please be gentle!

Can anyone please suggest a good quality battery / maintenance / trickle charger for my normally aspirated UK 2005 4.2? The car spends most of Oct - March in my garage.

The options which are usually suggested when this question is asked are CTEK, OptiMate and Lidl.

Personally I use a CTEK MXS 5.0 on my XK8 and the other cars in the family. It can handle normal and AGM batteries and you can get various accessories such as extension leads and battery connectors. I can't comment on the other two makes as I have never used them but each have their devotees. The Lidl is much cheaper but apparently doesn't reset itself if there is a power interruption.

Hope someone can help - I have a ctek mxs 5.0 battery charger - what is the best way to charge my 2007 xk battery please ?

Can you do it through the boot passenger side vent or do I need to connect to battery
