Re: Spare parts for road trip ?
Rusty theJag made it to Gib, along with two other xj’s. She didn’t miss a beat, I am home now, my brother flew out yesterday and is on his way back with her.
Re: Spare parts for road trip ?
Quick update, Rusty left Gibraltar Sunday morning, traveled to Northern Spain for the night. Today she arrived in Le Mans before the final push home. Fingers crossed she gets back tomorrow ?
Re: Spare parts for road trip ?
Pleased to say Rusty got home yesterday. 6 days, 3353 miles, Ave Sp 57mph, Ave fuel 26.6. Not a single fault or issue. Not bad for £500 banger destined for scrap !
Re: Spare parts for road trip ?
Hi Stu,
Well done and all the others who took part as well.
Glad the Jag went well and survived the journey.
The question is what are you going to do with it now?
Again well done .
Take care.
Andy

Re: Spare parts for road trip ?
Hi Andy
Thanks for kind words. What to do with Rusty next? There never was an after the event plan, if she had broken down in Spain she would have been left behind. Now safely back home in my shed she has earned another chance. I think I will keep her for another event next year. Perhaps something with off road sections, give her a lift and desert racer appearance?
She’s never going to be concours, but still allot of fun.

Re: Spare parts for road trip ?
An inspiring read - well done sir! I'm planning to drive to Ibiza next year in mine, so read with interest on spares etc. A couple of questions re. the roofrack - was it just to position the lights or did you carry luggage on top too? Did you do anything regarding driver comfort/seating - what were the longest spells at the wheel you were doing without stopping?
Re: Spare parts for road trip ?
Sorry I have only just seen your questions. Roof rack was just a bit of fun, support for spots. Actually I removed it in France due to the wind noise and drag. As for comfort, you don’t need to do anything, after all it’s a Jag
We drove 10-12 hours per day and only stopped for fuel as required.
