XF 2,2D 200 cambelt query

Postby Rossi#49 » Fri Sep 20, 2019 9:35 am

My 2.2 D 200 is coming up to 7 years old in 2020 and the service schedule says a new cam belt, tensioner and pulley are due soon. This work is not included in the Jaguar fixed price serving menu for the XF at main dealers. Can anyone suggest the likely ball park figure for the work and recommend a good independent in the York area? I suspect the dealership will be an "ouch" moment! Car will have done about 44k at it's 7th birthday. Many thanks.

144,000 miles or 10 years whichever is sooner for the 2.2d, Order of cost £400 to include tensioner. No Idea of garages in or around York, sorry . Lucas Autocentre in High Wycombe are pretty good in this area. If and when you do get it done it might be worth considering renewing the water pump as well at the same time. The same dismantling more or less has to be done to change that. If you have a fixed price plan some main dealers offer a deal on cam belt replacement it might be worth asking.

Many thanks Dave - not as bad as I thought. But inclined to go with an independent when the time comes. Richard

The Jaguar XF 2.2D Service Schedule calls for Camshaft drive belt to be renewed at 7 years OR 112,000 miles. This can be viewed online with your car's history. Do people stick to this or do you go for 10 years or 144,000 miles? For the last 30 years I've always changed my Audi belts (and water pump) at around 5 years old. Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

We had a bit of a discussion about this here:

I didn't get the belt changed in the end, but may do this year, still under 40k miles.
