Would this be OK to use with my X350? Or would it mess up with the electronics?

Re: Solar powered trickle charger
In my own opinion, the cell is much like many others on the market and will help keep up battery terminal voltage. That said, I`d recommend that you frequently check battery voltage to ensure the cell does not exceed 14.4v if your battery is in a depleted condition. With the aid of a volt meter, you should note that a high 14.4v high reading progressively drops as your battery voltage rises to an ideal figure of 12.8v .
12.8v battery terminal voltage with the cell disconnected indicates a fully charged battery. 12.4v indicates a partially discharged battery whilst 12.0v or less indicates the battery is in a discharged condition and is unlikely to provide enough grunt to fire fuel injectors or the power train module which controls engine management.

Re: Solar powered trickle charger
I tried the same one but returned it as it was doing nothing to help.Would this be OK to use with my X350? Or would it mess up with the electronics?

Amazon, for all their tax evasion tactics, have pretty good customer service so you can return it if not satisfied - mine could have just been faulty.
Re: Solar powered trickle charger
I doubt it would cause problems - the spec says maximum 200 mA, 12.7 V. Assuming you only have it connected when the car battery is also connected, the battery will smooth out any problems.Would this be OK to use with my X350? Or would it mess up with the electronics?

I suspect the XJ's standby current in park mode is more than 200 mA! Certainly my car wouldn't start after 3 weeks - that's 3*24*7 = just over 500 hours, and the battery is no more than 100 Ah, that makes for 200 mA!

Re: Solar powered trickle charger
Paul, FYI the workshop manual quotes less than 30mA standby current - but only once the systems have all shut down after about 45 minutes from being fully dead locked. If you only single lock it this shut down does not happen. I checked mine once and it actually was less than 30mA; I did not think it was going to get as low as 30mA because after about 50 minutes it was still at about 100mA and pulsing higher on occasion. It was interesting to note that, once it did shut down, about every 90 minutes thereafter various processors seemed to wake up and do stuff, causing the current to leap up to about 0.5A for about a minute before going back to under 30mA.
