Tracking down build info

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help. I have just purchased a 1967 S type 3.8 LHD in the USA and am bringing back to the UK. It has an awful two tone paint job that can't be original and blue velour seats, i know !!!! it is rust free and runs superbly i would like to take it back to its original colour and trim any ideas how i can find out what that was?

via Heritage Haritage Trust. Make your request with your VIN (chassis number) to: archive@jaguarheritage.com
They'll supply a Heritage Certificate for a small fee. But that will only tell you who the exporter or the importer was -- probably Jags' own north american import agency. That wont have stored the DDW information and may not tell you which north american dealership it went to. But at least the factory colour will be listed on the certificate. There might be more information available on the north american support sites who'll know more about what info's available over there
