My car has been occasionally popping up the "DSC System Fault" message for several months. Each time it does it I read the codes and clear. The same code appears each time (C1295). New battery seemed to sort it for a while but I suspect that was just a coincidence - it has just returned again, despite a recent battery top up with my CTEK charger.
Since it is the same code each time and that points to the steering angle sensor being faulty, I have just bought one from SNG Barrett and intend to replace it at the weekend.
Has anyone on here done this task and, if so, do you have any tips that I might benefit from?
Many thanks in anticipation.
Gavin

Re: Replacing Steering Angle Sensor
I note that a lot of people have looked at this post but nobody has replied (yet). I assume therefore that lots of people were hoping for the same advice I was looking for.
So...an update. I still haven't done this job because I haven't needed to. Somebody recommended I got a can of compressed air with a long tube (like you get on WD40), get the tube under the steering column shroud and spray liberally. The theory being that it might just be dust and stuff on the sensor. This has worked (so far). The car is a daily driver and has probably done 5000 miles since I posted my original message without the fault appearing again.
Worth a go if you have the same issue.

Re: Replacing Steering Angle Sensor
I have come across complete failures of the steering angle sensor but not intermittent ones. Like all intermittent faults, they are the worst sort to diagnose. There is also the performance of a steering control module and a signal from the speedo circuit to consider when looking for faults in this area. A DSC fault could be influencing the latter so it might be as well not to entirely rule out the possibility of a failing front wheel sensor or, just as likely, its wiring. Mike.

Re: Replacing Steering Angle Sensor
Thanks Mike. Hopefully it won’t return, but if it does then you’ve given me other areas to look for the solution.
