Intermitent Airbag light will not cancel with ODB2

Postby venge » Thu Jan 10, 2019 1:36 pm

Hi,

I put my car in for MOT 2 days ago but when I collected it I noticed the airbag light was on. I returned it to the garage that did the MOT the following morning to see if they could shed any light but they could find no reason why it would have been activated. They then plugged in the diagnostic machine and it stated that it was an intermittent fault from a from sensor however, the garage said that as it was intermittent, it shoud be possibl;e to clear the fault. Unfortunately, this is not the case and the fault will not clear. They even had an auto electrician working there who had a look and even he said that the fault should clear.

Anyone have any ideas as to why it won't or has anyone else had the same issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Had this on an S-type some years back. Essentially the same car.

The fault was in the connector plug, ie a pulled wire on the passenger seat belt clasp. I unbolted the seat, tipped it forward and there glaring at me was the fault. A broken wire. I must have had something under the seat at some time which had caught the wire. A quick re-join and out went the light.
