I take it yours is pre first facelift - 2002.5 M45254 though that identifyer means diddly squat, in reality and used by Jaguar service documentation, first facelift is early 2002 and M44998 on. The only models to use a slightly different Tank are the 2.7 Diesel and 4.2 SC.
Is yours the same as this...

Contacted Berkshire Jaguar,he has a long waiting list for these so it does not look promising at all.
I have located secondhand ones but not convinced to purchase.
I will put my renovation plans on hold for now.

Just a small update really.
Sourced a secondhand expansion tank, which arrived yesterday.
Not an ideal option i know but with no new ones available and nobody knowing when they will become available,i thought i would
have a backup.
Going into the indy on Tuesday initially for a suspension overhaul but will now have the cooling system tested.

Have a look through the Mag for parts ie David Manners / SNG Barrat/ Euro Jag You will be able to get most things, sometimes brand new.
I'm also replacing spring clips for Jubilee clips as I renew parts

Just an update.

I had the replacement secondhand expansion tank fitted today, all working fine now.

The original was found to have a large vertical crack not visible without taking it out.

Fingers crossed that it will last until new ones are available.

Thanks to everyone for their contribution.

Jaguar are not really supporting elderly cars once they get to around fifteen or sixteen years old. This is somewhat frustrating for many of us.

I looked into trying to obtain a new wiper mechanism for my X350 recently. These are also no longer available. (NLA). Rob and Mike H regularly meet with Jaguar to discuss badly needed parts supply with them in the hope that some of these impossible to obtain parts can be brought back into production. Sometimes they are successful, on others the situation still remains critical. Even direct approaches to the out-source manufacturers frequently draws a blank.

If you are really having difficulties, give Rob or Mike H a call and discuss further.

Hi Clive,
i could only source a secondhand one via typing into Google the required details.Lots of online parts suppliers and i registered with one of them.
They send details to lots of Jaguar breakers who then will contact you with thier offerings.
Good Luck.

As you may have read recently in the JEC Magazine the JEC were working with JLR Classic Parts to have the Expansion Tanks produced, the last I heard was that they were now available (Jan 19), you can check with them and or contact them for an update.
https://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/u...expansion-tank.

I also heard that 99-2002 part no XR816503 had been superceded by part no XR849532, you could try a search for that
