X300 1995 Cooling Fans running constantly

Postby xjscharlie » Thu Aug 24, 2017 9:18 pm

Hello Folks,
The fans on my 1995 X300 run constantly from Ignition on. I've changed the sensor switch in the radiator and if the lower fan is disconnected both fans stop. Can anyone advise what to check? Could it be the fan control relay and where is it located? Thanx in anticipation. Charlie.

Hi Charlie,

This previous topic might help (although it was about fans NOT running, it should point you in the right direction, with regards what to check):

correct me it I am wrong, but this is correct on early X300

however, when the cars were new many owners complained about it, there was then a dealer upgrade to prevent this happening, my 94 was the same, the dealer did the upgrade years later when I bought the car at 121K, and FOC

Thanx for the good advice. Think i'll leave it as there is no problem with the cooling. Anyone any idea of what the dealer upgrade involved. If its just a relay change which i doubt then thats an easy fix. Rgds..Charlie.
