My first MOT on the '40 today

Postby Brakebuster » Wed May 17, 2017 1:25 pm

I had done lots of heavy mechanical work , lots of fiddly stuff and several walk rounds to give me the best chance for her first MOT in my ownership, I had always thought the previous MOT was a bit ' suspect ' even though it had picked up wheel bearings , but none of the fiddly stuff like buggered headlights, etc etc

so today I submitted her for her MOT test at Protyre Gloucester , my first visit here for MOT but have got tyres there for many years and like their work , but a little expensive ,

car got pulled into the bay , a nice and clean area, the chap put on his gloves, nice sign , and checked the interior, much more thoroughly than my usual garage tester , lol , all good

did all the other stuff , excellent results on all the brakes, steering and suspension ( all recently worked on )

then onto the emissions, hmm , CO level of 4.1 to start, not good limit is 2.0 , gave the car some steady revs for a few minutes and hey presto , tested again and down to 0.08 ppm , excellent , just needed warming up a little

result, full PASS with zero advisories

well chuffed

and should give me a little more confidence in the car, and my work , lol

Remember I had a recent emissions issue this year with the newly fitted 200 cell cats, Vince. A very cold day and a car that had been on the ramp for a 1/4hr without being run. The cats caught a big cold and I initially had the issue you have just experienced. A hot run for a few minutes got the car through the MOT.

Brilliant. Nothing better than the satisfaction of putting a car through a proper MOT. Good for you.
