How to add Images to your Post

If you use a free account with an image sharing host like Photobucket, you do not need to resize your images, you simply upload them and when you want to post the image on here, you click on the link and Photobucket automatically resizes the image for you.

This is a guide I made for another forum I admin for...

The easiest way to upload an image is to open an account with an image hosting company like Flckr or Photobucket, there you upload your image to the hosting company's website, click on the picture and you should see an options box for sharing your image, copy and paste the Direct link to appear like this...

Or copy and paste the IMG code for the picture to appear like this...




To upload direct from your PC you will have to resize your Image first, place the Cursor where you want the Image to appear--
then click on the 'Attachements' Tab-- click 'Add Files' Tab-- select your Image--double click your Image (or Drag and Drop) --the 'File Panel' will open up with the name of your file listed-- add a 'Name' or 'File Comment' (if you desire) click 'Place in Line' Tab- your Image should now appear in your Post like this....

Just remember the Preview tab is your best friend when posting images.

its exactly how i add pictures , from a remote host with no limitations , paste the link and the software does the rest
( mine is a photography site i use )

usually , if you click on the remote host image, the image will appear in a new window on THAT site, so easy to find if you want to open an ' account ' ,

Too much fuss! This is a work around and not a fix. This site should just work and we shouldn't have to come up with all sorts of "cunning plans" to defeat it. Just make it so that that the photos we take using the technology that's in all our pockets will upload to the forum without having to fiddle around.
Sorry - grumpy old man syndrome taking over! Just annoys me that something that could be so simple,has unnecessarily been made over-complex so we users have to acquire all sorts of techie knowledge just to do basic things like post a photo!

Not grumpy old man syndrome ....just common sense!. You are not alone. The JEC is the only site I use where this resizing activity remains with the user. I run a web site using an off the shelf package which costs £62 per year....image resizing automatically included.

Yes, I agree that the site should not have such a limitation. It is irksome and has caused me to previously talk to James about the issue.

On the old site we would occasionally find the upload sizes to had suddenly and usefully changed from the 900H x 1300W pixel limitation to something vastly more user friendly. That would last for a while then revert to the more usual 900x1300 max size. So we know it has been done in the past, so surely this could occur once again? Is it really that difficult?

I guess its all to do with how much server space has been purchased, as yet no one has said. I still believe its much better to use an Image Hosting site for various reasons, of all the Forums I have used, Moderated, set up and ran over the years, none of them had a reliable image uploader and I constantly had PM's from irate users because they couldn't post a picture on a hot topic due to their limit having been reached. I do hope I'm proved wrong on this Forum.

as far as I am aware this will not reappear till phase 3. It wasn't repaired before as in the words of Graham Searle they didn't want to spend the money on repairing the fault when they knew phase one would not be long in coming online. To date I can't see phase one is any good as I can't post items on to my regions site and James is on holiday at the moment.
