Idling Issues

Guys,

Thanks so much! I'm afraid i don't have a camera but it's been suggested to me that it could be part nos 3663/3883 for a coolant hose coming off the coolant/heater valve. Would that fit, does anyone have a parts list with pictures they could could post for those parts so i could check?

PS It was A/C pressure with the system on @35psi, measured on the cold side.....

All the parts diagrams, prices etc are viewable online at

So you should be able to find the pipe and its price, if still available from Jaguar.

Hi thanks for this, I cant seem to search by part number and a look in the other pages seems to imply that this is the correct page for it to go into. However there don't seem to be any hoses listed....

No, i did look at that one but its the wrong side of the engine and there's no hose leading to the water rail from the T piece.

Dear All!

I hope you've all been well whilst the forum has been down. My car has still been the same until today after changing the throttle springs to 1981 5.3 HE's....

My pedal is now heavy but my idle speed is now cured!!!!!!!!!!!

(To be honest my old springs were completely gone)

Hi new to forum,
Recently purchased 5.3 XJS and have noticed on some ocassions the idling become erratic, a kind of hunting.
Does anybody know what this is and how to fix it.

Hi Andy, and welcome to the forum

I hope you are pleased with your new XJ-S and that it exceeds your expectations.

To get the max. benefit from the Forum may I suggest you start a new thread with your problem in the engine section, (click on new topic) and include full details of model year, coupe/convertible etc. also all symptoms re idle issues etc.
