XJ40 30th Anniversary meet Dunkeld Scotland 28th & 29th August

As some of you will have seen, there is to be a XJ40 30th Anniversary meet in Dunkeld Scotland, on the 28th and 29th of August. it has been advertised in the magazine.
This was the location of the original press launch of the model, so has historical significance

Venue
Dunkeld House Hotel
Blairgowrie Road, Dunkeld, Scotland, PH8 0HX, United Kingdom
TEL: 01350 727771

This event has snowballed in recent months form a somewhat smaller meet to something far bigger and more involved.
It did start off as a one day event, but with so many offers of support and guest speakers we have extended it to two days to make the most of the opportunities.

We have at least 45 confirmed bookings so far, with more being added frequently now.

All bookings need to be made by emailing annandhoward.hunt@btinternet.com

The event will start around 2.30 pm on Sunday 28th, but i am hoping to confirm a full itinerary very shortly.
this has recently been extended, to fit additional speakers/ guests.
Monday 29th August 2016, will be a full day of activities.
I would advice arriving my Midday is possible on Sunday 28th, so there’s time to mingle and chat with other members before everything kicks off.
There will be time for some drinks around the bar in the evening!

More exciting news. we have just had a confirmation that we will have two members of Jaguar Heritage attending, with the two XJ40s from their collection. the last ever 40 (Solent Blue M reg 4.0 Sov), and a 3.6 XJ6.

We have confirmed well known Jaguar guest speakers, including members of the original XJ40 launch team, with talks and presentations, about all things XJ40. including some exclusive never before seen test footage of the XJ40 during pre production testing! We also expect to have some of the journalists who were present at the original event. We will be driving the original press test routes too, in the surrounding areas, so we will get a real flavour of how the original launch went.

Presentations/ Attendance confirmed from

Ed Abbott- Development Test Engineer XJ40, 1978-85

Paul Skilliter- Journalist and Jaguar historian/ regular contributor the JE mag.

David Marks- XJ40 Guru/ Tech

Jim Randle- Ex Jaguar Engineering Director XJ40, will give a talk (now aged 80!)

Peter Taylor- Press Car Manager XJ40 Launch, will give a talk

Howard Hunt- Project Engineer, Press Cars

Please note, if budget does not allow, you can find other accommodation elsewhere nearby and simply attend the day time events, but of course it would be nice to have everyone under one roof. But there are options potentially. Please research this yourself though.

We have negotiated favourable rates at the hotel (Dunkeld House)
for the 29th August 2016
A double occupancy room including full Scottish breakfast, 3 course dinner and coffee breaks during the day will be £167.
Single occupancy will be £143.50

Other nights
we have rooms at £149 double occupancy and £134 single occupancy, again including full breakfast and dinner.

For those not wising or needing to stay over the cost will be £38.50 per person, for the dinner and the coffee breaks per day.

Please note those who may wish to book late, close to the event, its important to note there's a maximum of 90 guests that can be accommodated in the function room for dinner. Currently there are still spaces, but this may change as time presses on, so please try to book asap, if you would like to secure a space.

For those who have asked, its not a Black Tie dinner, just normal smart/casual.
Let me know if you require any other specific details.

Its also helpful if anyone booking can confirm with me when they have booked, as its easier to keep a running total that way, rather than keep asking the hotel.

Here's looking forward to a one off very special XJ40 event!

There will be Rally plaques available to purchase at the event. Projected cost is £7 per car.
These fix onto the front grill of the car.

These are a somewhat late addition to the proceedings which is why we will have to charge for them, to cover the cost of printing them up.

Thanks to everyone who attended this event. everyone seemed to have had a fabulous time.

Big thanks to everyone who contributed to the proceedings, especially Ann and Howard Hunt, who really pulled the event together, Rory Semple, who's idea two years ago spearheaded the event.
And of course the one and only Rob Jenner for all his experience and humour made the day so memorable.

Look out for Paul Skilleters report and pictures in the JE mag very soon.

If anyone wants to stick some pics up on here, feel free.

What a fantastic weekend. Weather, hotel, presentations, all the XJ40 owners and the cars all amazing! A big thank you for all of those involved in the organising of this event, absolutely superb!

Has to be the best event I have attended. A round trip of about 1000miles and worth every mile! Loved it!

A few photos!
