Hello,
I am fitting a new stereo but was wondering about the four tapped holes which secures the stereo in place in the car, does anybody know where to obtain side brackets which fits onto the stereo.
Thanks
Winston

Re: Car Stereo Upgrade
Hi Winston, I don't think you can buy those (not sure, check Halfords or a stereo fitting shop, they may have something that could be adapted). Brackets tend to be unique to the installation, especially older Jaguars now. I made my from small alumiminium sheet, using the old brackets as templates and measuring the holes on the side of the new unit and side-to-side distance to get central. Maybe make cardboard templates and then find a local tinny?
Re: Car Stereo Upgrade
Hi Winston - I had the same problem and couldn't find anything so I ended up making some from angled alloy strip. It took a it of trial and error but I got there in the end!
Are you coming up to Kemble on Saturday? If you are i'd be happy to show you how I did it.
Regards
David

Winston,
The ones that were used on my original Alpine-made unit then fitted directly onto my new unit. See my earlier thread here for pictures and details:

Good luck

Re: Car Stereo Upgrade
As Paul says, the brackets on the later cars fitted with Alpine units swap straight across. I did this on my Celebration. A couple of photos below.
Edit : don't know why the website has loaded the photos upside down - I promise I wasn't doing handstands when I took them!

Re: Car Stereo Upgrade
I've got an Alpine CDA-9855R in the cupboard that hasn't seen the light of day for 10 years, maybe it's time to put it to good use again...
Thanks Paul & David!
