Have just read Reginald Lowe's piece in the August issue of the magazine. My story is not much different to his except my first car was an MGTB (this was around 1965), followed by a TA, Midget and MGB, but had to move to more practical transport when the family arrived. Always wanted a classic car again so I built my own SS100 as a retirement project (just registered it on the Vehicle Register). Since it was finished we have done the New Zealand tour with Roger Williams but are now looking for more adventures so thought I would take up Reginald's suggestion and get in touch. I hope this was the method he had in mind.

I'm glad you enjoyed the article although it is a bit out of date as it went missing for a time prior to publication.
In that period I sold the SS100 and bought an "E" Type and I now also have a Morgan +4. You have done exactly the right thing by posting on this site, you will find that Neil ( who also built his car and is very knowledgeable about SS100 ) plus Roy, John and Robin will all come back to you with info.
Roy is our resident photo guru and will travel miles to get a good picture. I don't know where you are based but we try to get together at the VSCC meet at Snetterton Race Track at the end of Sept. We had 5 SS100's plus a "real" one last year and it was a good day out.
Do keep in touch and add anything you feel will be of interest to the group. Although I am currently "on the dark side" I still have a great affection for these cars and may even buy another.

There are threads here on various aspects of owning and maintaining our cars, including web links, a parts list, potential safety issues, light conversions, etc.

thanks for the information and the great photographs. Hope to make Snetterton but there may be family problems stopping us. However, I will keep reading the forum to keep up with options.

Congrats on the build and welcome to the SS Suffolks section of the Bulletin Board. And thanks for adding your vehicle details onto your membership record. The car looks great,I like the non-chrome wire wheels!

It's great to see another Suffolk in the club. Pretty soon, there will hopefully be enough interest and volunteers to start a Replicas Forum for the club.

Welcome to the Board. Reg Lowe's article has stirred some interest and we are pleased you have found us. Although we do not have a forum and I am still not sure, despite asking, what exactly the forum is or could be, the bulletin board provides a wealth of information about Suffolks and other Jaguar replicas and specials. Not only are they a way to swap ideas but also important safety considerations. Low volume kit and hand built cars do not enjoy the luxury of a factory recall and the rolling database is small. Thus issues identified by one owner either through observation or trial and error might have important considerations for other owners of that model or any other replica so please feel free to add to the board at any time, either to ask a question or note down an observation.
There is no such thing as a unwelcome question and definitely no stupid questions. It is amazing how the simplest query can lead to the most active area of discussion.
The section dedicated to Suffolks does include a pinned section which is locked to the top of the bulletin board, these are areas identified by us which could have significant safety implications.
