Windscreen Wiper replacement

Mine are in need or replacement but I think the ones I have at the moment are incorrect. The arms are different lengths and the rubbers are both 40cm. They don't seem to park in the right place or cover the screen efficiently.

Would anyone know what the correct set up is? Park on the left type.

this can be tricky as the spindles may well be in the wrong position on the arms, but assuming they are, the left wiper blade should just touch the screen rubber on the far left when it is parked, and the drivers wiper blade should be at an angle with the end of the blade against the rubber, I think the drivers blade is the shorter of the two

this is how they sit on both mine and Phils car ( 1989 and 1990 )

as a sub note, the drivers arm has a bend at the end where the blade is, and the passengers is straight ,

The shorter arm was indeed on the drivers side, although when I swapped them over the coverage was better but they still don't look quite right. Maybe my blades are the wrong length, are your blades 400mm as well?

I'm getting there! It transpires that the blades should both be 15" so mine are a bit long. I can't remember when they were changed last, I expect it was during an MOT a few years ago so they likely put on whatever they had on the shelf.

New Bosch ones are on order, so when they arrive I will play around with the arms and find the best compromise to get a good fit.

New ones arrived and have been fitted and adjusted. A vast improvement. Thanks to BB for taking the time to help.

15" are not that common it seems, which explains why someone had put 16" ones on.

The glass screen still has its problems, but at least the wiper now sweep correctly.

rummaging through my spares i found a new pair of genuine Jag ones for her, i have some Bosch ones on there atm , with a blade on the drivers side ,they work well for the time being

i also found some brand new genuine jaguar pre HE stainless ones , , i had forgot about them

If the metalwork is OK, you might find just replacing the rubber fixes problems. My 2008 XJ has automatic (i.e. always on ) wipers. The ends of the rubbers had split, so I got some new rubber from the local motor factors - £2 for a couple of 20" ones - needed cutting back with a pruner to fit. Cured the automatic wipers, clean the screen better. I hadn't realized how much rubber had worn away on the old blades. They had about 4mm rubber; the new ones about 12mm!
