Silverstone Classic 2015 - XJS 40th Parade Lap

Hi All,

There may be an opportunity for a XJS 40th parade lap during the Silverstone Classic (http://www.silverstoneclassic.com/) on 24th/25th/26th July this year. I did something similar last year to celebrate the Sporting Bears 25th Anniversary (footage here: https://youtu.be/hdgtC3E0JWI ). Despite the occasional spirited acceleration, the pace cars do manage the traffic and keep things calm and sensible. There is also a short drivers briefing prior to the parade and all drivers and passengers need to complete the usual waiver forms.

Nothing has been organised yet, so before I can move forward I'd need to understand;
- How many folks are planning to bring their XJS to Silverstone this year and on what day(s)?
- Would you be willing to partake in a parade lap?

I haven't booked up for Silverstone, but would love to do the lap, so if u agree a date and i can get a ticket, i,'d be up for it. My approach may sound a bit flakey...

Depending on health issues, I'll probably be attending on the Saturday. If so, I'm up for a parade lap!

I suspect that three XJS wont be enough to warrant a parade lap or even tacking onto someone else's parade lap!

So with regret, I think that we'll have to abandon the opportunity.

I hope that we get a better response for the 50th anniversary!

If you're interested in having the parade lap, I'd suggest sending an email out to the o have updated their membership details with an XJS. Sadly, 99% of them won't have read this thread.

i'm afraid i have so many commitments that the Silverstone event would have been asking too much of my very patient wife ( 26th wedding anniversary tomorrow , 32 years together ) , but would have otherwise stepped up to the mark....

While I would love to visit the forum regularly, "life" just gets in the way.

A blanket email from HQ would reach a broader audience?.

Hi guys,
A marketing plan involving all our media outlets (online/offline) is being devised ready for a launch at a later date.

As with all these things, we currently do not have the best systems or back end in place to take real advantage of the various marketing possibilities. We are putting things in place to move this area on for the benefit of members and organisers throughout the Club.
