My S-type (2007) has a fault on the drivers seat airbag, code 22, which I believe indicates a problem with the wiring under the seat. Has anyone any experience of this problem? Which wires does it mean? and how do you get to them?

Re: Airbag wiring drivers seat.
Yes, I have seen similar. 37 in my case. Start up and count the number of airbag symbol flashes. Three then seven in my case which is the front passenger seat belt clasp where you enguage the seat belt clip. I have a wire which slips out of the plug and puts the warning light on. I just push it back in again until it next faults!
The seats remove easily enough. Usually a couple of Torx screws front and back of each seat to floor pan but are often covered with pull off plastic trim pieces. They can be an awkward fiddle to get off. Once unbolted, the seats move and you can tip them around to gain access to the plugs and sockets. These are push fits but the lock tangs can be a brain teaser sometimes.
This may help you to diagnose further. 22 is shown in the list.

Hope that helps.

Re: Airbag wiring drivers seat.
Thanks Mike,
I'm pretty sure that my fault is for Drivers seat airbag wiring, and I know that there are a number of wiring connector blocks underneath the seat. It seems that moving the seat back and forwards and up and down disturb the wiring. (My wife is small and I'm big, so the seat is regularly altered.)
I know I can remove the seat but I was hoping that someone would be able to point me directly to the correct wiring block. Also does the battery have to be disconnected?

Re: Airbag wiring drivers seat.
Probably best if you do disconnect and certainly take the keys from the ignition.
There are several plugs under the seat and all should be obvious where they lead .The drivers air bag is to the outside of the car and you will see a tag pointing that out on the side of the back rest. Others here on this BB may be better placed to help further.
If you disconnect the battery have the radio code to hand and also reset the clock via the radio menu button.
Hope that helps.

Hi Mike,
Thankyou for your further reply, I think the only thing to do now is get to work on the seat.
Regards
Martin.
