xkr brembo rear brake disc replacement

I would like to replace the original Brembo rear discs and pads.My car is a 2005 XKR 4.2S Carbon fibre limited edition.I am looking for good quality and a fair price (not brembo prices).Some aftermarket suppliers do not inspire confidence when I have called them.surely the vin number should be foolproof but it appears not with some dealers.Any help would be appreciated.Is the job straight forward because if it is I will get the spanners out?Thanks! Hi Paul,

The good news is that the task is quite straightforward if you are familiar with working on brakes. The bad news is that Jaguar fitted Brembos to some cars as options throughout the model's run so without a link to Jaguar's Topix system to check individual vehicle specs by VIN number, most parts information systems simply contain details of both types. Consequently, you have to know which type (basically Brembo or non Brembo) is fitted to your car to order the correct replacements.
At the time when I bought pattern parts to replace my car's Brembo discs, the replacements were identical down to the casting marks suggesting they hailed from the same factory as the originals. I have no way of confirming the disc material was identical but braking performance was entirely satisfactory (using genuine new Brembo pads). Subsequently, I sold the car along with its service history so, unfortunately, I can't confirm the supplier but it was certainly one of those advertising regularly in the magazine. Mike.
