radio change

Postby bryan13 » Thu Oct 09, 2014 8:53 am

advice needed, my radio/CD player display wouldn't light up unless really cold, so i thought i would change it instead of repair, got a second hand one and fitted it but now my Bluetooth wont work just displays no phone and my rear parking sensors beep constant when you select reverse, my radio date is a 05 and the one i fitted is a 04 would there be a compatibility problem between the two or some thing i have done.
thanks Bryan

As a general rule, with any electronic part or model, it must be replaced with a unit that bears exactly the same serial number which may start XR8, C2Z etc.

There are a large number of part number changes over the years for S-type and other models. If buying aftermarket parts, it is again imperative to buy accurately cross referencing parts before committing to buy.

Did you pair the phone again after fitting the new radio and connecting up, I reckon a complete disconnect like that would have the module thinking its a new installation.

I would agree with Doug, if you are getting the phone screen and it's saying phone not connected, you need to start from scratch and pair it again, as per the manual. If you dont have the steps for pairing post again and will put them on here, as the procedure for the XJ and the S type is exactly the same.

Ah, in that case not sure, the system on my previous S type and current XJ has the sat nav screen, so it will be different, I am sure someone out there has it though? Apologies.
