Hi,
Bearing, who ever supplies them have a name (Fag, SKF,RHP) and have a standardised bearing number, (6306, R4RS or similar) so the bearing can be ordered from your local bearing supplier.
Seals, assuming they are pressed in lipseals have a size moulded into the rubber on the inside of the seal so it doesn't get damaged too often, but the seal numbers are its actual size (30-15-5, is 30mm OD, 15mm ID and 5mm thick).
Some suppliers will say it is an auto bearing and they can't or won't supply it. When I was in industry I eventually only dealt with BSL or Brammer as they are now, they never let me down and have infact just supplied two bearing for a Vax carpet shampoo-er.
The other point is if it ain't broke don't fix it, if there is wear or it is noisy then fine but if it has been looked after why give yourself more problems.
The usual problems, slack is in the trackrod ends because they haven't been greased FREQUENTLY is easily if not cheaply rectified. A later modification is to use a link bar with replaceable trackrod ends rather than replace the whole (original idea) link.
I think you said you have power steering, unless you know what you are doing then don't dismantle the steering box.
Best of luck
Brian
