I'll be honest - I did not even realise that we had a Social & Event section under "Club Comments". Completely the wrong place - IMOH. Club Comments implies that the section is for feedback to the Club. I think Social Events should have it's own section and not be buried under Club Comments. Oh - the irony - that last comment should probably go under Club Comments -doh!

Meanwhile;

Vince - if you are planning to have the breakfast meet last Sat of every month I can forward load the diary until the end of the year? I'll also emphasize that it is cross-forum.

Pop - I'll add the Alton event to the diary if you are happy for me to do so

Cheers, Rich

Rich, yes please.

I would like to add that these are completely unofficial and not events. If someone turned up and found they were the only one there, never mind, its an excuse for a drive in their favorite car and they get a breakfast to start the day. :D

The reason Saturday was chosen is that 'proper' events tend to be an all day Sunday thing and this wasn't intended to compete with, rather compliment them. I know some members can't make Saturdays but its impossible to please everyone. Ideally, it should stay quite low key as a way of JEC members having a chat and planning other events. It could be a problem if 200 Jaguars suddenly turned up at a cafe :|

I left off December 27th for now :)

Pop:

All events marked as Regional rather than XJS Forum

These breakfast meets are an excellent idea; pity they are rather too far south for those who live 'oop North', but no reason why the idea cannot spread . Does anyone fancy getting something going?

Thats the spirit PaulE!
I'm sure you know of a decent cafe with parking near you. Pick a date and add it to the list. :D

GordonJ,
Well the two of us are a start - any ideas? I think we need a proper specialist breakfast cafe used to quick service rather than a cosy tea shop place don't you? The Little Chef at Elkesley on the A1 has had the Heston treatment and refurb and is OK now.

Are you attached to a region? We have several Doncaster members come to Lincs.North.

Hello Gordon,

I have already enjoyed a lunch visit (proper Pie and Peas) and a look round this unique and amazing place. It must be remarkably and deservedly popular as we squeezed into the last parking spot on a drizzly Thursday in March, and I think it could be a problem. When I went the best thing was to see a Riley MPH which is one of the rarest cars ever built, about 12 in total, just standing there with little appreciation. The 'E type' next to it was surrounded and I had no success trying to drum up any interest, even when I said that the last one sold at auction went for over 300,000 dollars. I did not realise at the time how lucky I was to have a friend with an MPH in the '50's and able to enjoy many miles in it.

Are you retired or confined to weekends still? We might get something going as we cover a lot of ground if S.Yorks and Lincs North and taken together. Give it some thought.

Regards, Paul.
