Front flexible brake hoses.

Another item of importance I would like to share is that of the front flexible brake hoses.If you have used the ones supplied by Suffolk as I originally had and a friend of mine with a Suffolk also had, last year we both found at least one of the hoses was cracked through the outer layer revealing the inner part of the hose this taking place at the part of the hose that joins the solid brake pipe at the chassis. I had a new pair made for me by a reputable brake hose manufacturer and got them to make mine approximately 1 inch longer than the original as I believe the shorter pipes had a more severe bend in them than I liked. I advise a careful check of these pipes although the MOT should pick up on any unacceptable wear in this item. Cheers John. Thanks for the information. I have just checked mine and they are OK, although I can see how they could wear due to the short length of the hose.

My car is six years old now and I have replaced the front flexibles. The original rubber has started to swell and de-laminate. I tried to replacing them with the braided stainless steel flexibles sold by SNG Barratt part JLM9702/ss. Unfortunately these are significantly shorter that the standard rubber flexible on the same part No. In the end I fitted HEL Performance flexibles. I chose a 54cm overall length custom flexibles with 3/8th male Bulkhead fittings at each end. The ideal length would be 52cm
