bump in the X

well,

the X-Type has been driven into in a car park ,my wife was in the car at the time, a low speed bump as someone reversed out of their space straight into the rear of our car ( i was not there ) , ripping off the rear bumper and smashing the nearside rear lights, and very minor damage to the bodywork above the rear light , it was completely the other persons fault as she reversed out without ensuring there was no one behind !!!

insurance is collecting the car on Monday for repair and dropping off a hire car, though i suspect they may well write of a £2k car ?? for this damage,

what would be a good buy-back price, as i have estimated i can repair and leave the minor metalwork for about £250 all in ,

bummer is , i have to be inconvenienced and fork out a £250 excess before the insurance can claim from the other party....

ah well , stuff happens

last time I bought one back it was 13% of write off value from memory, so cheap car and not recorded on V Car in those days, things may have changed now though

btw if it make you feels better I whacked the soon to be ex wifes XJR reversing into a tight space last night, just adds to the case against me I guess!!, more cost!!

they are collecting the X tonight,

if they do write it off it will be cosmetic Cat C ? and i buy her back.

do i have to re MOT her after the work , or what ?

never bought back a car before, but if less than £500 she will be worth it, as the work can be done ( by me ) for about £300

no mot needed, but you MAY need a vic check, last time I did this, all the paperwork remained with me as though nothing had happened, I just got a cheque of the insurance company, but as I said this was sometime back now, 5 years plus without looking
