I'm not sure where to post this, it's my first post. I've been told that the rear subframe front bushes, or mountings need replacing. The garage is cautious about taking on the work because they don't know whether they will be able to remove and replace them effectively because there is a lot of corrosion around the mounts. It's a 1997 Sovereign, it is a little rusty in places, but I'm not sure whether to spend money on it. The slack mounts show themselves on take up on the accelerator, a clonk through the prop shaft, and a kick from the rear. It's a wonderful car otherwise, my Dad's in fact, only had it a week but I'd like to keep it a few years longer. Is this an expensive job? Not sure where to go and get advice. I'm in Middlesex near Heathrow, London.
With thanks.
Stuart

Re: Rear subframe mounts
Hmmmm.......Sounds like a job for one of JEC's trusted workshops.....perhaps David Marks or Chris Forbes.
Chris Forbes is nearest to you (CFS Motors) in Coventry.
I suggest you ask Chris to check it out for you.....Chris will give you a professional assessment and an honest opinion.
Do not worry about the distance from your home.....he sorts out those problems all the time !
Phone him on 01676 541917 and do not forget to say you are a JEC member.
