I have just repaired the problematic smiths battery operated time clock and have an inexpensive fix that uses a new smiths internal and is powered by the cars 12v system.
If anyone wants to know please ask.

I need to repair the clock on my 1967 S1 e-type (1E50697) which is not working, so will you please let me know your fix? my car is also negative earth so in theory the same solution may work. My e-mail is artlawrence46@gmail.com

yes please to deatils. My clock seems to run fine but I cannot adjust the hands so its on permanent summer time and runs 15 mins fast into the bargain
