I bumped into Reg and Lyne (Lowebird) at the end of season flying display at Old Warden.
In addition thanks to the JEC / JDC groups who allowed me to join them in their enclosure.

Last year I went to the Melton Mowbray classic car meet which takes place as the shops shut on the last Friday of the month during the summer. One of the cars there was a very early TRAC SS100. (TRAC was the name of the company which Roger Williams bought to found Suffolk Sportscars) This car was originally exported to the US and its current owner brought it back to the UK a few years ago and fitted it with period lights. From many angles it is identical to the later Suffolks but as this was an early car it lacks some detail such as the windscreen.

At this years Notts and Borders regional day I saw a very well used Suffolk SS100, unfortunately I only was able to speak to the owner as he was leaving for lunch and did not get his name. His car was 9 years old and had covered over 30000 miles, he had made a number of modifications including carriers for tools which fit under the front wings and had fitted larger mirrors, a box in front of the gear knob and other additional storage. I attach a photo of his car and a snap of some of his alterations but I hope the owner will read this and provide us with more detail of his modifications and his travels.

Good, well-made video. Not a Suffolk. It appears to be an original 2½-litre SS100, despite the title.

Apparently it started life as an SS Jaguar 2½-litre Saloon and was rebuilt as an SS100 by the guy who started Proteus:

Hello Roy,
I like the look of the side screens on the silver SS, VUF 401. These look very much like the ones on my Morgan which, whilst being more difficult to store in/on the car, do have the advantage of retaining a little more heat whilst hooning about in the winter.

Roy,
Thanks for that, I would be tempted if the price was a lot better. I would need to paint the wheels blue and change the interior to grey. I managed to get an SS100, a reasonable model from China but it's black. I can't think anyone would want a black SS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done for spotting another SS. It would still seem from what you and Neil have found that there are a number of people with replicas who are either not members of the JEC or if they are, they don't look at the BB.
I met a chap at Rogers last week when I was trying the C-Type and he is looking at an SS but wasn't aware of the replicas section.

Suffolk SS100 at the Silverstone Classic last Friday





There was a large Jaguar clubs area (both JEC and JDC) on the banking after Copse corner.

Roger is still using Steve Knight's former car as a demonstrator. I understand that Steve traded it in to Roger for a Suffolk C-Type.

No, Steve sold it back to Roger and bought a rather nice XK120 DHC. The white "C" Type in your picture is the one that I wanted to buy after driving it but 'er indoors vetoed the idea as it hasn't got any weather protection.
