New Shocks Purchased

I have just purchased 4 Sachs shocks via Mister Auto for £298.

When I received them I noticed the rears were Febi Bilstein.

The front two are Sachs as ordered.

However the front Sachs shocks are 3 inches longer than the Rear Bilstein.

Question can I fit them as they are or should I get the same make all round?

Front dampers have a longer stroke length than the rear units. Two differing lengths take account of the differing weights of the car front to rear. The weight distribution of the S=type is theoretically a 45/55% distribution biased as I recall as being slightly heavier at the front of early cars .

It sounds as if you have purchased standard OE spec dampers from an after market source. Generally nothing wrong or unusual with that. Sachs and Bilstein are well known makes and there will be thousands of their dampers in use around the World. Provided your supplier has issued a match four set of units, you will get a standard handling car.

I favour at least a stiffened uprated rear suspension but suspension mods are something of a matter of personal preference.
