Road noise.

Postby paul999 » Sat Dec 22, 2012 10:32 pm

I have a last of the old shape XKR and find the car very noisy on the motorway. My previous Stype sport obviously had smaller wheels and tyres but was much quieter. Is there a sound deadening kit available aftermarket. The car has 20ins wheels and Dunlop sport Max tryes( nearly new). They seem no more noisy than the Pirellis I had on it before so it is just a big fat tyre problem.Any Ideas please?

Hi Paul ,
I don't know of any sound deadening kit for X100's but I have Sport Maxx on mine and also previously had Pirelli and have not noticed any excessive road noise , indeed I would say it's a quiet ride at all speeds , have you ruled out front wheel bearings from the equation :?:

Hope this helps

Dunlop Maxx are my favorite tyre on my S-type.

Certainly a long lasting tyre with grip like a leech and probably as quiet as it gets.

Not cheap but worth every penny in the long run. Love these tyres to bits. Just can`t wear them out. Great ride as well.
