Water leak in x300 passenger footwell

Postby turkcat » Sat Mar 20, 2010 9:13 pm

I have an X300 1995 3.2 s and it is now in super condition but has a massive leak in the front passenger foot well!

I had a car wash the other day and heard water sloshing around behind the dash and as I turned right water poured in!

help anyone!!!!

The car has done 69000 miles and has a solid body. The real joy is that its LPG powered so I am getting 40mpg equivalent so use it daily. just hoping the chancellor will forget lpg in the budget.

David,

Sorry that I can't give you any answers although I can tell you about water leaks in XJSs!

You might a better response if you post this query on the XJ Forum Bulletin Board which caters for X300 models. Also if you drop Rob Jenner an email or Priavte Mail, he may be able to give you some cluse as to where to look first.

Good luck, damp feet are no fun!

I know its a long time ago now but I recently had a windscreen replaced on my 1995 XJR by autowinscreens.
On finishing I was informed that there was a couple of small rust holes under the plastic finisher at the bottom of the winscreen.
It happened to rain the following day and my passenger complained of water on her legs, the footwell was a well, but full of water not feet.
Anyway after repairing the bodywork and testing I found water was still pouring in.
I then found that windscreen rubber did not fit tight against the glass, so sealed with mastic as this was all I had available.
I now have a dry passenger footwell and happy passenger.
Hope this helps someone sometime
