I got most of them working again by liberal use of granville electro connector. However its messy and it seems not very reliable. Does anyone know of a better method for heated rear screen repair
Heated rear screen

When I bought my jag the heated rear screen was pretty much entirely inoperable. I discovered that rather than the strips being damaged by contact, they actually seemed to have started corroding away at the edges.

hi,
to be honest your best bet would be to get a replacement screen , they go for silly ( low ) money on ebay and such like , and a simple continuity test will determin if the elements are in good order,
fitting would be the tricky part, but its got to be better than having to mess around all the time, and live with a rear screen that will not de-mist,and that has ' messy ' repairs to the circuits ?
hope this helps

Mine has never worked in all the time I've had the car! Of course, it's on the list of 'things to do', but I never seem to have the time.....
Is this a common problem then? Does anyones HRW actually work?

Thanks for the advice / opinions folks. I think removing the screen is a bit drastic although I would consider it, although at the moment I think theres only 1 strip thats not at all working.
Found some other stuff, different to the electro connector, might give it a go.

Jon,
Mine doesn't work either.
airconditioning I find prevents the rear screen misting and clears it quicker than electric demister.
Thats how I work around mine.

I'm a late joiner to this topic.
Several of the lines on mine didn't work when I bought my car 8 years ago. It gradually got worse until it was down to only two operating, so I had a brand new rear window fitted. I don't think this new one works either now - hmmm.
I really ought to look into this, but I keep forgetting to - winter approaches though.
Regards, Julian
