Oil and filter change advice

Hi all
How many litres of oil are required? Any dramas to be aware if?

the engine will take 7.5 litres of oil if you include a new oil filter in the change,

no drama's , if your prepared,

an ordinary oil can will not catch all the oil , as they are usually 5ltr cans , so be prepared to catch 7.5 ltrs of oil ,

jack the car up on the drivers side, place the container under the sump plug , undo the plug and catch the oil , lower the car on the jack to ensure the car is level to drain out all the oil , then replace the sump plug after jacking back up and always ensure the car is safe to work under when jacking , some suggest you buy a new sump plug with washer , this may be wise, will coast about a tenner ,

a new filter from Jag as also around a tenner , best to get one from them as aftermarket ones dont have the built in non return valve in them ,

the oil can be any good brand , but dont buy fully synthetic oil ( its not fully synthetic anyway ) , a good quality semi-synthetic will be fine


dispose of the old oil responsibly

should take no more than half an hour

easy as that

Thanks for the guide, did it this morning as per your post, no problems, the last oil change was nearly 30k ago!
