Will standard XJR discs fits a xj8??

Have my eye on some discs that are for a 1998 XJR , will they fit my 2000 W XJ8

The description on sizes is as follows.......

Fronts appear to be 305mm across x 28 mm thick

Rears are about 305 mm across x 18- 20 mm thick

As stated..they are whatever the standard disk setup is for a 1998 car.

from memory ,

they will fit BUT

you will need new callipers , as i think the R had larger brakes as standard over the standard XK and XJ

Compare with my previous link and ensure they are one and the same part number or equivalent.. That being so, you should be ok.

I believe the later 4.2 models had larger discs and as BB says, Brembo or jaguar enlarged callipers.

Perhaps Rob could also advise when he gets back from Stoneleigh spares day.

Done some checks, the dimensions are the same as my car, just won the 4 x discs (EBC) drilled and grooved for £19.99!

that means you have a big brake kit fitted over standard

All i need now is the 4.0 engine and the Supercharger now!
Having said that i was surprised how nimble the 3.2 is, i hear you can get up to 30 miles to the gallon on a run?

my normally aspirated 4ltr gets 34mpg .


the 4ltr is known to be more efficient than the 3.2 , strange but true

I had a Mercedes GL450 CDI that was a V8 CDI, i never got that over 33mpg!
