Does anyone know where the pollen filter is situated and how do you get it on the 2,7D

Glad to hear you are getting the valve sorted.

This seems to be an issue which usually comes down to the valve unit. Motorised valves in many situations can be troublesome. I fixed a friends central heating system recently. Motorised valves again!

Well!
Valve fitted and problem persists. When I road tested the car all the functions of the aircon seems to work correctly. But when the car is stationary and the temp is set at any chosen setting it's still blowing cooler no the drivers side.

Having looked at many web sites on aircon problems and remedies Iv' tried checking the Evaporator Sensors on the drivers side (which I can't find)
The only other thing to check is the Pollen filter. Apparently if this is choked up it can cause temperature variations. Allthough I can't remember where this is or how to get at it.

Any clews.
Thanks Jeff.

Sorry, Jeff. Missed your original post on the pollen filter.

On the early cars, you have to remove the near side wiper arm and then unfix the clips top and bottom on the black plastic scuttle panel in front of the lower edge of the windscreen. Then lift the near side end of the panel and the pollen filter sits in a unit below that panel. I recall it is a slide out unit. Replace with a new filter or clean if feasible.

I suspect the procedure will be similar on the later cars.

Hope that helps.

Hello Jeff,

Re the above and your post on the XJS BB, I`m now back at base with access to my manuals and scan gear.

I have found six pages in the Jaguar Technical Overview publication. The manual was for early cars and I understand that Jaguar never updated the manual for the later models. What I have to hand I hope will assist. There may be modifications to the system in later cars but regret I can`t produce any later details due to the above.

I`ve tried loading the scanned pdf`s to this BB page but without success. Some of my IT skills are not so hot!

If you pm me your email address or perhaps better contact me via mike.kennedy@jec.org.uk I can send you the pdf`s by return.

Apologies in the delay of reply.

Now all you need are 10" long fingers".

Apparently the best way to tackle this job is to remove the valve with hoses attached. Ditto re fitment.

Since my last post I've removed the N/S wheel arch cover to reveal the said heater, which turned out to be a Webasto unit. I have located a Webasto agent in Manchester and will be giving him a call on Monday. I'll keep you informed.

Barretts catalogue link here.

http://www.sngbarratt.com/DownloadArea.aspx

Go select S-type, down load and go to index.

A good information source complete with part numbers by model year and Vin Number.
