XJ8 recently passed the MOT with flying colours, not bad for 12 years old.......

planning on replacing all the headlights with some new ones i have, and installing a metal coolant tower to the engine ,

Had to fit a new battery last month , the RAC one i bought four years ago died , about six months after its warrantee run out , so i took the plunge and bought a genuine Jag one for £109 , starts on the button now , no worries , lol

some nice person drove into my rear drivers side door in a car park , putting a huge dent into it, took a while , but found a top quality replacement in the right colour for £50 , and two hours work ,

Part is available for most V8 Jaguars with perhaps minor variations. However, I am unsure if that part is used for supercharged models.

The ali thermostat tower unit is a none Jaguar produced aftermarket part, manufactured to get around common cracking and rotating thread insert problems experienced with the original fit plastic tower. Age and heat eventually take their toll and the unit has a tendency to disintegrate. I got my plastic unit off as soon as this product became available. I am glad it has gone as I distrust plastic longevity when heat and pressure is around. Heat and thermoset plastic do not go well together.

One word of warning about the ali unit. The thread on the top of the tower finishes with a very sharp edge. Although I torqued to the correct figure, that edge destroyed the supplied O-ring. I went for months with a flat rubber washer as a replacement but that eventually began to leak. Now I have a flat fibre washer doing the job which works well.

Norman Motors, North East Jag Spares and other usual suppliers can provide one. Price is similar to the Jaguar OE unit. In my opinion, fitting a replacement in plastic is a no brainer.
