Factory installed satnav

Postby Lincolnlady » Sat Jul 03, 2010 2:25 pm

I have recently bought a 2000 (w reg) SType with pre-installed satnav and startac phone system. My husband sourced a handset for the phone on eBay but does anyone know how to get newer disks for the satnav, think my is the one that came with the car 10 years ago.

Hi.

There looks to be a general lack of support for older sat nav units fitted to early cars. Updates appear to be available for later systems but I`m affraid that does not help you.

These couple of links would seem to define what the problems are with up dating an early system.

I`m at Northern Day on the 11th July and if he is there, will ask Dave Marks about any possible solution.

This electronic gizmo stuff moves on in technology very quickly and it usually only takes a mere ten years or so for a system to become yesterdays chip papers. I find the same situation apparent in the world of marine navigation technology. Rather frustrating to say the least as often the equipment is in fine fettle but support or software is no more.

I`ll see what else I can find out.

Hi,
I have similar problems with the sat nav, in that it refuses to speak.
Take a look at JAGDROID, where they take in your sat-nav screen and update it to Jagdroid, which can incorporate front and rear parking sensors and lots of streaming and techie items.
Regards,
Alan.
