Pulsing Electrics

Postby LesD » Sat Aug 01, 2009 3:12 pm

Hi,
I have a Series 1 67 FHC which is exhibiting the following electrical problem.

When the engine is idling, headlamps, interior lamps and handbrake warning light all glow steadily, and the ampmeter indicates the battery is being charged (as normal). When the engine speed is increased, the lights begin to pulse and the ampmeter indicator flicks madly from side to side, sometimes travelling from full charge to full discharge in one movement.

The alternator has been checked by a specialist and is working correctly and both the voltage regulator, and the coil have been replaced. The battery was fully charged and reconnected, but the problen still persists.

Any advice would be most appreciated.
