I have been experiencing problems with my X-type and eventually had the EMS system replaced at vast cost, and the car went into limp mode almost immediately! That showed up a fault with the Accelerator Block which I then had replaced, but on its first trip out, the engine went into limp mode once again.
Each time, the engine warning light also comes up. If I stop the car, let it rest for a few minutes and then re-start, everything is normal again. I and everyone else are at a loss—could this maybe be a water leakage problem, as this all started after the car was drenched by a large water puddle? Or is it maybe a style of driving problem? It is a very frustrating situation, and a costly one, so any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

If it all started after getting very wet, it is possible that water has penetrated the loom and has gravitated to a multi pin connector.
If it has not been done, I would suggest removing the entire EMS loom and ensuring that every connection and earth is dry and not corroded. I would include the transmission loom in this as well.
We have not experienced or heard of significant EMS problems with these cars.
What we do find, however, is that oxygen sensors go down, as do rear wheel speed sensors.
When the speed sensor fails, it usually (but not always) disables the ABS system, dependent upon the actual state of the rotor as it starts to fail. What will also happen is that the engine MIL warning
will also light up and show an apparent EMS problem.
