Earth cable between engine and body

Postby Johnny1965 » Wed Sep 10, 2008 7:15 pm

Hi,
I has brought my mk2 out now after a long "sleep" in the garage. When I tryied to start it the started would crank the motor and I saw some "exciting" sparks in the linkage under the carburators(L.H.D) and when I analysed it I found that I got 0 volt between engine and -.Can anyone give me a hint/picture where the ground cable between engine and body is located?
Best regards/Johnny

The earth strap on my 67 420 (which i assume will be the same set up)is located on the left forward most bolt on the sump. This is where my Jaguar manual says it is and that is where i found mine.Hope this helps,
JAGAZ.

Thanks,I will check it when I come home and see if I can find a trace of the cable there because there must have been one earlier.

On a Mark 2 the earth cable should be on the bulkhead, behind the exhaust manifolds, and it connects to one of the gearbox bellhousing bolts.
