volume control gone completly on xk8 2003

i had a itermittent fault on the audio system when i got the car ,the volume control would go off completly in any mode,radio,tape or cd then would come back on after 15minutes or so but yesterday in went off and it hasnt come back on,i have tried to get to the back of the radio but i cannot get my hand in to see if there is a loose connection ,any one got any ideas how to test the system

Does the display change at all?

Do you have the std or premier system?

Would be worth checking the fuses - ensuring they are tight and not corroded, then, check the multiplug at the rear of the armrest (inside, underneath the tray).

cheers dave i will check that but in the mean time the volume has gone all together ,i stil get the display showing what ever the mode i have got it in but alas nothing out the speakers
