I've tried to upload three times!

Postby MarkyM » Thu Aug 09, 2007 9:50 am

And got the following message (which strangely says XJS Gallery)

fn = 503_3-1.jpg - 2048 x 1536
Resizing Image

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: image_resizel() in /home/fhlinux205/j/jec-xk8-forum.org.uk/user/htdocs/xk8bb2/gallery/update_pics.php on line 70

I can only assume that some of my pics are too large but there doesn't seem to be any guidance as to the format and size constraints

Help!

Mark

Hi, yep your pictures too large, I am no expert but heres how I did it. I have XP.
You need to resize your pictures in your pc, before you upload them.
Open up your picture- right click it - click open with - click on microsoft photo editor - click image in the tool bar - click resize-make sure you change the wee size box to pixels - then adjust width and height to 960x720 pixels which is about the right size for the forum. :? you probably know how to do all this anyway.
Hope this helps if not ASK Mike??

Cheers

Thanks Wullie

Photo Editor seems to have disappeared off my machine so I'll have to learn to do it with another piece of software (as yet untried)

If it's too difficult i'll just have to leave it.

Thanks Wullie,
your advise on the pics worked for me, like most of replies when we were both on the XJS forum.

Gallery Picture Size Constraints

Postby webman » Fri Aug 10, 2007 5:01 am

The gremlins seem to have been at work!

The code to manage images was designed to take .JPG files of any size and for each image, create a thumbnail and resize the larger image to fit in a 960 x 720 pixel window.

The same code on my own server works without problems, with very large images!

Until I can resolve the problem, the uploaded file should be limited to 960 pixels wide and 720 pixels high.

Webman

Glad I could bring this to you attention...incidentally when a posting to the XK gallery fails it shows the legend of XJS Gallery (which possibly may also be an error unless the new on was mirrored off the XJS list without all the ties being severed on failure)

The lack of resizing significantly would be a considerable advantage since most XK8 owners may not be IT professionals....most of those drive TVR's!!

Hi folks
I made a wee mistake in the posting above . (corrected now) I said reduce your pixels to 160x120 thats the size of the thumbnail picture. As Webman says we should make our pictures 960x720. then upload them. Sorry if I caused any confusion. Im still learning all this stuff.

cheers

Hmmm whenever I resize to the 920 x 720 pixels it only gives me the left hand side of the original picture :o(

Anyone fancy modifying them for me and posting them up?

Regards

First attempt at posting images, so let's hope it works! :D

My 2002 4.0 XK8, with eldest son Conor tramping over the good leather!!!

(Mark, when you resize the image, select 'Keep aspect ratio' depending on the software you are using, otherwise it is just cropping your image)
