Hi everybody....
Just thought i would share this with you. A few weeks ago i did a tune up on my V12. New Leads... i got "Magnecor" competition leads £160...(didn't wont her suffering with the "under bonnet" heat thing) Plugs NGK "r" £30.... Rotor arm "Marelli" £20.... then.... a few days later....I had a choice of Distrib cap "Marelli" at £120... or a £40 look-a-like... I got the look-a-like.... I don't know why !!!... I read all about it on here... but still bought it !!!.
Anyway.... all fired up well.... went for run up the motroway.... 20miles into the run, some guy pulls along side, and says... "you got flames coming out of the backend !!!
I pulled over.... The car was then engulfed in smoke, but no flames.
Too cut a long story short.... The Dist cap had cracked, lost one bank (B) of cylinders... the cat had melted from the heat... and i didn't know.... the car felt fine.... i was mins away from total burn out.....

UP-DATE..... it wasn't the distributor cap that failed, it was one of the coils that failed. And i take it all back about cheap distributor caps, as i got one from my local jag dealership, and they DON'T stock marell any more !!
