Having removed the battery from My XJ8 to start the XK8, I placed the discharged battery onto the battery charger, but outside the vehicle. Without a thought I shut the boot lid, and now as you've guessed all the electrical boot switches do not open the boot. I have looked for a manual over-ride in the hand book and workshop mannual but I am unable to find any suggestion that there is an easy non-destructive way into the boot.

Any suggestions?

put the key into the boot lock, and turn it
