Does any body know how to re program the key fobs?

This does work,(X308 ONLY) and has done for me twice now:-

1. Unlock the Boot with key.

2. Turn Ignition on.(Take care NOT TO engage the starter)

3. Warning lights on dash comes on.(system check)

4. When system check lights go out, press the Valet button 5 times within 5 secs of lights on dash going out,( Horn may sound & Lights may flash.....may not.) Makes no difference anyway.

5. Press any button on remote, remote programmed.

Don't forget to shut the boot before trying to lock the car with the remote!

You may have to reprogramme any other keyfobs you may have straight away.

This Should Work:

You will need to have all the key ring transmitters for the vehicle being reprogrammed to hand. As a new set of instructions will be programmed on to the remotes, and any missing transmitters will not function with the vehicle.

1. Insert the ingition key (DO NOT TURN THE KEY)

2. HOLD the left hand column switch back (Headlamp flash posoition)

3. Turn the ignition key to the Auxiliary position (position 1)

4. Flash the headlamps four times (you will hear a short beep and the red LED security system warning lamp on the gear selector panel will be lit) the system is now in the programming mode.

5. release the left hand column switch (DO NOT REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY).

6. Press the lock or unlock button on the first transmitter to be programmed.

7. When you hear a short beep, the remote is programmed.

8. Repeat for each additional transmitter, up to five.

9. This must be done five times. so if you are programming two remotes you will need to press twice on the first and three times on the second, or any combination to make five.

10. Remove ignition key (you will hear a short beep to indicate the process is complete.

11 Test all the remotes.

This has worked for me on a variaty of XJ8's from 1997 to a 2001 Daimler super.

Is the fob for sale in the jec-shop sutable for 1998xjr? The part number is different from the one I have, but would it still work? 150 quid plus vat at Jag dealer!

if the part number is different,

then no , it will not work,

you have to have the same numeric code, along with the matching letters on the end...AB. BB etc

oh, and ones from the USA wont work either, ... different frequencies and all that

I have recently bought a 1998 4.0 V8 Sovereign. The key fob works, but needs about three presses on the button to lock/unlock, so I have purchased a new fob on eBay. Numbers on ORIGINAL fob are LJA2610BA; on NEW fob they are LJE2610-BC.

Does this mean I cannot program the new fob for my car? - and if the answer is "Yes", can someone tell me what model the new fob does fit, so that I can advertise it for sale?

it will not work on your car.....

different frequencies were used in different countries for local laws , it may well be from a 1998 XJ etc, but from France/America/Germay etc,

the only thing you can do is advertise it with the number code in the listing, and make it clear that it has to match their existing one to work

Thanks brake buster. I'm not sure it's the frequency which makes the difference. My "old" fob is marked on the back "433.92MHz"; the "new one doesn't have it on back but the label on the packet is marked "433.92MHZ 4K JAG HC". End result's the same though - it doesn't work on my car!!
