Hi. I acquired an immaculate 1998 XJ8 Sports in April of this year after having owned and driven a series 3 XJ6 for a number of years. I love XJs and the XJ8 is perfect... except for the leather sports seat that crippled my back. After much perseverance I replaced it with a 1996 Executive seat... which is marginally better but still unacceptably uncomfortable. Is it just me?! More importantly what can I do about it? I really don't want to let the car go, but my back is ever so slightly more irreplaceable than the car (just). I have tried a range of back and seat supports and a seatbelt lock with no real success. I would be willing to try most things including adapting a series 3 seat to fit - if possible. Can anyone help me to keep my Jaguar dream alive?

Steve, some times the seat you have been using for a long time is the one that is out of line........a series 3 xj6 seat is a very different animal to the 308 seats which are not all soft and floppy & made for comfort like the old series 3 were or even the XJ 40 i used.
To get used to another which could be OK takes time (and pain). The current seats that Jaguar install come all ready made up from whichever manufacturer they use at the time. Whereas Jaguar used to make their own,but nowadays they are are made for optimum support to help with the driving position.
Make sure you are fully aquainted with the seat adjustments available on the car, then when you find the ideal set up if it has a memory facility lock it in.
If all this doesnt work try another seat from Eurojag ring them and explain your problem they may have a solution to your problem.
Its a complex issue when your health comes into conflict with your car, only you can decide, if ever my back used to flare up because of the seat in my old XJ40 i would take a couple of Nurofen Plus tablets, as most back problems with seats are just inflamation until your back gets used to the different seat..........Joe
