Water drips coming in drivers footwell

Hi, just noticed every time I wash my XJR there’s drips of water coming from the black cylindrical thingy which is located just above the brake and accelerator pedals in the drivers footwell.
I’m not sure what this thingy is, it’s black and appears to be in 2 parts, and water is dripping from the Seam.

I’m at a loss as to where it’s coming from or how to cure it… or indeed how much damage could be done?

Strange one, unsure where that will be coming from, but suspect it’s dripping onto that rather than leaking from the seam? Usual suspects would be a bulkhead grommet, water runs down a wire or cable and through the grommet.

Thanks Andy, I had a look at the weekend, my suspicion is, water wasn’t draining away quick enough, via the bulkhead drain hole, as it filled up, it probably went over the inlet funnel for the cold air intake.
I managed to find the drain hole and it took ages clearing it, ended up using a bottle brush my wife gave me. It drains straight out now so will keep an eye on it.
I think that water has accumulated in what I guess is the motor housing for the air fan for the outside air. Unlike sierras etc it must be located under the footwell. It’s got a few screws located in awkward positions, it might be that I can drill a small hole to let the water out, rather than try and dismantle the whole thing, which might mean taking some of the dash out.

That must happen to lots of these old girls as they are difficult to locate the drain hole in the bulkhead

It seemed there was only one.. are there 2 drain holes from that bulkhead area?

I would think there should be one at each end of the windscreen scuttle, though some times there may only be one central one, is the one you found central?

Sorry for the delay, had been away. It did appear to be central, yes.. I have checked a couple of times after under the footwell and it seems ok… but will keep an eye on it… do you know what that black cylindrical thing is under there? Thanks

I think the part you are referring to is the Pedal Housing Booster.

Number 1 in the diagram.

Hi there,

I seem to have the exact same issue and was therefore wondering where the drains where located exactly?

It seems to be a common issue, those drains get filled with water and then gets trapped in the heater intake.

If someone knows where those drains are, that'd be helpful.

Not sure on the 308, as was not a problem when I had mine. Simplest is pour some water on the windscreen and see where it heads, chances are it is blocked with stuff, if so poking some stiff wire down, gently, should clear it. On the X150 there is a ducksbill drain centrally which is notorious for blocking, but don’t know if the X308 is the same.
